Airfield Information
|
Perth is a PPR field - please ring the radio room on 01738 551631 before you set off.
All aircraft must be radio equipped. Microlights are welcome.
There are no formally recognised VRPs for Perth, but you may hear locally based pilots announcing that they are overhead Mugdrum Island (SE), Perth City (S), Almondbank(W), Stanley(NW) or Cupar Angus(NE).
The usual join is in the overhead at 2000ft QFE, but if the circuit is quiet, other approaches may be in use. Although no approved instrument approach is in place at Perth, a training approach is in regular use by Perth-based aircraft.
You should beware, therefore, of twins in the hold at 3000ft QNH. On leaving the hold outbound (northwards), they will decend to 2000 ft over Coupar Angus before turning inbound and descending to circuit height on heading 210. If 03 is in use, they may then break right and reposition for 03 LH downwind. In such circumstances, traffic in the 03 circuit needs to be extra vigilant. |

Cautions
|
When taking off on runway 27, there may be severe downdraughts and turbulence in the vicinity of of the line of trees that form an obstacle (70ft agl) across the runway centreline at 910 m beyond the start of TORA.
When using 03 or 21 with the wind from the NW, expect turbulence from the tree line. Perth have cut down a lot of the offending trees so the downdrafts are not so severe.
HIGH GROUND TO THE NORTH EAST OF AIRPORT RUNNING NE-SW RISING TO 918FT AMSL WITHIN 2NM AND 1236FT AMSL WITHIN 5 NM. |
